Volvo/Döner Kebab (I´m rolling/Rotating Kebab) (2011)

Klas Eriksson presents a site specific sculpture, made out of combined ready made objects found in the area of Kalmar during April 2011. Klas Erikssons artistic practice is characterized by semiotics, a use of symbols in order to create new meaning. By using well known symbols in popular – and mass culture Eriksson creates an easy accessibility to his work, only to, in the end subvert the viewer’s expectations. Eriksson is in his later works interested in approaching a collective sub consciousness.
Klas Eriksson has recently ended his residency at Iaspis, Swedish Art Council in Stockholm. In 2010 he took his MFA at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm, were he studied under Professor Olav Westphalen. Klas Eriksson has been shown in Stockholm, New York, Berlin, Kiev and Moscow.
